#31 - Ants - In Tua Braccae - Sold

Completed November 2024
Cardboard, tracing paper, LED lighting, timber base with plaster mound within perspex box.
Size: 50W x 50H x 15D cm
In keeping with the entomological naming convention In Tua Braccae translates roughly to In your Pants 😁. (No, it’s not creepy, just an old saying - ants in your pants - look it up!) A posse of ants going about some ant business, a few taking the kids for a walk. A couple of leftover ants were made that wouldn’t fit comfortably onto the 50 x50 cm base. Most have different poses, walking, turning, climbing onto the side of the perspex display box etc. This is the first piece that incorporates a baseboard element into the sculpture. In this case, an ant mound. These guys were sold, quite fittingly, to an entomologist!
